1.Information We Collect
Foldy only works with the content and settings you create or bring into the app. There is no account system and no backend server, so nothing below is transmitted to us.
- Files and folders you organize, copy, move, rename or delete using the app.
- To-do items you create, including their title, details and completion status.
- Notes you write in the app's own note format, stored in an obfuscated form that only Foldy can read.
- Files you share into or out of the app through Android's share sheet, used only to complete that action.
- App preferences, such as theme, icon size and item-count display settings.
- Device storage statistics (used vs. free space), read from the operating system to display the storage indicator in Settings.
We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any account credentials.
2.Permissions
Android requires apps to request permission before accessing certain system features. Here is why each one is used.
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Storage / media access | Lets the app list, open and organize files already stored on your device. |
| Install unknown apps | Requested only when you choose to install an APK found through the app; installation itself is handled by the Android system installer. |
| Notifications | Shows the progress of file imports when content is shared into the app from elsewhere. |
| Default app links | Lets supported files be opened directly in Foldy from other apps, if you set it as the handler. |
Foldy does not request access to your camera, microphone, contacts, call logs, location or messages.
3.How Information Is Used
All processing happens locally, to power the features you interact with directly:
- Search matches your query against file, folder, note and task names already on your device.
- Bulk selection applies copy, move, delete or share actions to multiple items at once.
- Theme and display settings are remembered for your next visit.
- Storage overview reads free and used space to display the indicator in Settings.
None of these actions send your files, notes, tasks or settings to us or to any third party.
4.Storage & Security
Foldy stores data only in two places, both private to the app on your device:
- An encrypted local database for metadata — file names, folder structure, to-do items and settings — protected with AES-256 encryption, with the key held in your device's secure keystore.
- The app's private file storage, holding the actual file bytes you manage and the obfuscated content of your notes.
There is currently no cloud sync or backend server, so this data is never transmitted over the internet by the app. Uninstalling Foldy, or clearing its storage from Android's App Info screen, permanently removes this data.
6.Children's Privacy
Foldy is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has used the app in a way that concerns you, please contact us using the details below.
7.Your Choices
- Access and edit anything the app stores by opening Foldy directly.
- Delete data at any time by removing individual files, notes or tasks, or by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling it.
- Revoke permissions at any time from Android Settings → Apps → Foldy → Permissions.
8.Future Updates
Foldy is under active development. Optional features such as cloud sync, and future monetization options such as ads or in-app purchases, may be introduced later. If any such feature changes how data is collected or transmitted, this policy will be updated in advance to describe it, and the effective date below will be revised.
9.Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Foldy evolves or as legal requirements change. Material changes will be reflected by an updated effective date, and where appropriate, an in-app notice. Please review this page periodically.
